Former director told to return phone with VIP customer data
Recently we reported that Borgata Casino is accusing six of its former directors of giving Ocean Casino secret information about VIP punters. Then one of the alleged accused left work without returning a phone that belonged to the establishment and which contained detailed data about Borgata’s big punters. The aggrieved casino sued its competitor, and recently succeeded in having the court order the former marketing director to return the phone.
Moreover, two former directors who left Borgata this summer were served with a temporary restraining order prohibiting them from working at Ocean Casino and contacting any former, current or possible Borgata customers. They were also prohibited from passing on any secrets and confidential information of a former employer to a competitor. That said, the judge ruled that they could keep their current positions at Ocean. And the gambling establishment itself will not be penalized because Borgata could not prove that the operator knew that the employees were using the competitor’s secrets.
